![]() ![]() I caught about 50 bass, and four 5-7lb cats on one hook. What was news to me was the there were tons of channel cats stocked in there too. ![]() I recently was fishing some farm ponds with T rigged beavers catching lots of two pounders. The design allows for great hook ups, and the wire is strong. I've been using them for years without issue. i will not be buying againĬomments: Fantastic EWG hooks. im very dissapointed in the performance of these hooks. i was fishin a carolina rig with a 4/0 hook and hooked a 1ber and he came off the hook was bent up and sideways, i thought it was just a fluke so i tied another one on and the same thing happend and i lost a fish. If it ain't broke.Ĭomments: i've been faithfully using these 4/0 gamas with worms and beaver style baits and get good hook sets but have noticed when i catch a 4lb or better the point straightens out a little bit and that concerns me but i always change my hook i don't just bend it back, thinking of trying owner but the price is much higher than gamaĬomments: Ive used these hooks my whole life and i love them, until today. Rarely do I miss a hook set with these and if a fish does get off it was operator error. I don't think there is a different magic style that works better. They are sharp and stay sharp for a long time. These are definitely money makers.Ĭomments: I use these for 90% of my soft plastics. It's simply not necessary to pay high prices for specialty hooks.Ĭomments: Hands down my favorite soft plastic hook. I even use these to wacky rig senkos and other plastic worms. The 4/0 is great for senkos, plastic worms, and beaver style baits. If you need to be on a budget no need to buy another hook. We also offer these hooks in the economical 25 and 100 packsĬomments: Still after all these years my hands down favorite hook for soft plastics. These are probably the best selling bass worm hooks in the known world! Gamakatsu makes these hooks with the point in line with the eye of the hook so when you set the hook, all the force goes to the point to drive it through your plastic bait and into a hard, bony mouth. Try them with big creature baits, big Senkos, and those over sized worms with thick bodies. If you find this happening to you when you fish big plastics, try the Extra Wide Gap hooks from Gamakatsu. If the plastic is too thick, not enough of the hook pushes through and the point cannot connect deep in the fish's mouth and you will either miss the fish completely or not hook it deeply and lose it on the first good run. With a regular Texas-rig, the point of the hook is pushed through the entire cross section of the bait and when a bass bites the lure, the plastic bait is pushed down exposing the point. ![]() Sometimes the plastic baits we use are just too thick and heavy to rig on a standard worm hook, so Gamakatsu created their Extra Wide Gap hooks. ![]()
